Today marks the special occasion of Jamshedi Navroz or Pateti, which is celebrated on the eve of Parsi New Year. Nowruz, also spelled as Navroz, is the Iranian New Year celebrated by ethnic Iranian people. The vibrant festival is celebrated on the eve of Navroze, is a day of penance where one repents for their sins. While the Parsi community is rejoicing the day amid grand celebration, our Bollywood celebs took to social media to extend their warm Navroz Mubarak wishes. Several celebs such as Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Farhan Akhtar wished the Parsi community a year full of love and happiness.

Mostly celebrated in Central and Western and Middle Eastern part of Asia, Nowruz is generally declared a public holiday in countries like Iraq, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Showcasing the significance of the specail day, Iran offers a 14-day long vacation for school children and university goers. Canada has also included Nowroz in the country’s national calendar in 2009. In India too, the festival is celebrated by the Parsi community with utmost enthusiasm
