Padmaavat director Sanjay Leela Bhansali cannot just stop raving about the gorgeous Deepika Padukone. Post collaborating for three films, it seems the ace director is not quite done with the actress yet.
There is a definitely a fourth film happening for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone. It looks like the filmmaker is still keen on extracting the most from Deepika, even after working with her in Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and now Padmaavat.
However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali disagrees. “There is a lot more to her. Deepika is one of the finest artistes I’ve worked with. She has such grace. She never surrenders to melodrama, even when there is ample temptation to do so”, he says.
Further speaking on this he said, “Look at her speech in front of the women before they commit jauhar. I was so overwhelmed by how she handled that scene, I gave her Rs 500 after the shot. I am sure that token of my appreciation is more valuable and precious to her than the entire remuneration she got for the film.”
The Padmaavat director sees glimpses of three legendary actresses in Deepika. He says, “From some angles, she reminds me of Vyjayanthimalaji. Sometimes she reminds me of Hemaji. And the grace with which she performed the Ghoomar dance reminds me of Waheedaji. I strongly believe Deepika has the potential to join the ranks of our legendary actresses.”
On a related note, the Deepika Padukone–Ranveer Singh–Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat has gone on to become the first Sanjay Leela Bhansali to surpass the 500 crore mark worldwide. Sources suggest that the film has collected Rs 525 crore worldwide.
