Did Salman Khan lose a big endorsement deal because of Bigg Boss 10?

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been setting the television screens ablaze ever since his return as the host on Bigg Boss 10. This is the seventh time the actor is hosting the show.

While the makers and the audience are enjoying watching Salman dealing with celebs and aam aadmi on BB10, it is being reported that the show just made Khan miss out on a big endorsement deal.

Coca Cola has dropped Salman Khan as a brand ambassador for ‘Thumbs Up’ after four years of its association because of his association with Bigg Boss 10.

Reportedly, Salman’s contract with the company came to an end last month and Coca Cola decided not to renew it further.

In fact, both Salman and Coca Cola also released a joint statement clarifying that replacing Khan as a brand ambassador is mutual decision considering his association with a daily TV show which is sponsored by a brand that competes with the Coca-Cola India product portfolio.

Though they made sure not to name the show or the brand, it is quite evident that the show being referred to by Coca Cola is Bigg Boss 10.

This year BB is being sponsored by Parle Agro’s carbonated apple juice brand Appy Fizz and the company is said to be paying a whopping amount of Rs 35 to 45 crore to the channel.

Since Salman Khan is hosting BB10, it wouldn’t be fair to his contract with Coca Cola to promote its competitor.

Interestingly, the ‘Sultan’ actor was signed as the brand ambassador by the company for the second time in October 2012 after endorsing it in early 2000s. In 2012, Salman had replaced superstar Akshay Kumar as the ambassador of Thumbs Up.

Besides, there are reports that Coca Cola is planning to rope in young actor Ranveer Singh as the new brand ambassador of the brand.

However no official announcement has been made in this regard so far.
