The first week collections of two of the biggest releases of this year - ‘Shivaay’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ - are out and the latter has taken the lead. Ajay Devgn’s high on visual appeal directorial raked in Rs 70.41 crore till Thursday while Karan Johar’s multi-starrer minted Rs 80.19 crore.
With no other film lined up for release this weekend, both the movies have another open week to score big at the box office.
Both the Diwali releases garnered mixed reviews from the critics as well as the audience. The clash of these two big banner movies was highly discussed.

After the movies were released, Ajay said that the better one will perform well in the long run. He also added that it was unexpected for the movie to perform well in the days preceding Diwali, but it did anyway.
Now, it is left to be seen if Ajay’s movie attracts more footfalls in the coming days.

As far as reviews for ‘Shivaay’ are concerned, many critics found the movie to be a tad bit long and were of the opinion that it was only Ajay’s show, making it a little boring.
However, the bond between father and daughter in ‘Shivaay’ impressed viewers. Ajay said few walked teary-eyed of the cinemas, which was the biggest compliment he could get.
Well, let us see if the numbers change for the movie in the near future or not.
