After the news of PadMan and Padmavat box office clash became official, makers of Aiyaary announced postponement of its release date. Neeraj Pandey's directorial, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Rakul Preet Singh, etc will now release on 9th February, thus clashing with Anushka Sharma's next project, Pari. Confirming the news, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ''It’s OFFICIAL... #Aiyaary shifted to 9 Feb 2018... Neeraj Pandey directs... Stars Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.''

The story of Aiyaary is about a defence deal scam and how it collides two army officers with different ideologies. Manoj Bajpayee plays the role of Colonel Abhay Singh and Sidharth is essaying the character of Major Jai Bakshi, a surveillance officer. Both of them have their own ways of doing things. As title of the movie is quite amusing, the director tried to explain its meaning in an interview to Mumbai Mirror. He said, ''Aiyaary has been a special project with a very exciting ensemble. ‘Aiyaary’ means the ultimate trickery. The word ‘Aiyaary’ fabulously sums up what a Soldier resorts to ultimately in the face of extreme crisis. His intelligence, sharpness and wit not only bedazzles his own troop but also earns him the respect of his enemies.''

On a related note, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavat announced its official release date today. The film which was marred by controversies ever since its announcement, is finally set to hit the silver-screen on Republic Day weekend with Padman. However, the much-awaited movie will not release in Rajasthan. Sources close to the team of Padman said no one from the team of Padmavat has had any talks about the clash.
