Ajay Devgn and Rakhul Preet Singh have been making a lot of noise among the audience ever since the trailer of their upcoming Bollywood film De De Pyaar De hit the internet. The film shows an older man (Ajay Devgn) falling in love with decades younger woman. In one of the scenes in the trailer, Javed Jaffrey is seen telling his friend Ajay Devgn that it is not okay to fall in love with a woman who is almost his daughter’s age. While the film touches upon an unusual pairing in terms of ‘older man-young woman’, this is not the first time that Bollywood has given a love story to his fans in which the couple is ages apart. From Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan in the film Nishabd to Akshaye Khanna and Dimple Kapadia in Dil Chahta Hai, Bollywood has forever been in love with surprising pairings. Nishabd

Well, the first film that come to our mind when we say, ‘older man-young woman’ romance is Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan in Nishabd. The film witnessed a lot of attention from fans as well as the critics since hardly anyone expected Amitabh Bachchan to go this bold in his 60s. While the film failed to do magic at the box office, fans loved the performances and even appreciated the unusual twist to the Bollywood tale.

Cheeni Kum

Cheeni Kum was another masterpiece which showed Amitabh Bachchan romancing a woman younger to him. In this case, it was the gorgeous Tabu. Big B was a chef in the film and Tabu was shown half his age. Besides being in the controversial light, the film garnered praise for its light humours and Amitabh’s banter with Tabu’s father Paresh Rawal in the film.

Dil Toh Baccha Hai Jee

Before De De Pyaar De, Ajay Devgn has already mastered the art of wooing younger women in films like Dil Toh Baccha Hai ji and Golmaal Again. In this Madhur Bhandarkar’s film, a middle-aged bank manager falls for a young intern and people loved their chemistry.

Golmaal Again

On the other hand, Golmaal Again was a horror-comedy which showed Ajay Devgn fall for Parineeti Chopra who was much younger to him and was also a ghost. In the film itself, characters were seen joking about Ajay and Parineeti’s age which makes for a fun scene. However, hardly anyone objected their pairing since the chemistry was sparkling.

Dil Chahta Hai

Dil Chahta Hai was not just about friendship but also left a deep impact on the fans for different takes on love stories. One aspect of romance was the relationship between Akshaye Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Even though Dimple was decades older than him and also a divorced mother, Akshaye’s character found it normal to fall in love with her and so did the audience.

Lamhe

Lamhe was one of the first Bollywood films that touched upon this subject. In the film, Yash Chopra brought two love stories with age difference. First Anil Kapoor fell in love with a woman (Sridevi) elder to him. Later, Sridevi's daughter (her lookalike) falls in love with middle-aged Anil Kapoor. While the film is considered a classic now, it was hard to digest then.

Welcome

Here again, Nana Patekar falls in love with a woman, Mallika Sherawat, who is half his age. While the film is anything far from serious, the fun chemistry between the two actors added a nice twist to the film and entertained the audience a lot.
