1 dead, several injured as 6.8 quake jolts India's north-eastern states

A high-intensity earthquake today hit the northeastern region of the country, ripples of which were felt in West Bengal, apart from Manipur, Bangladesh, Nagaland and Arunachal Pardesh.

The tremor lasted around one minute. 1 person was reported killed in the incident whereas several were injured.

Over 35 people were injured in Imphal.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about Home Minister Rajnath Singh's presence in Assam and asked him to oversee the situation.
