The Delhi High Court Tuesday dismissed a plea by Congress-backed National Students' Union of India leader Sunny Chillar challenging the election of DUSU ex-president Ankiv Baisoya for allegedly furnishing a fake bachelor's degree to get admission in the university.
The Congress had set up a three-member committee to look into the issue after a woman, a party worker from Chhattisgarh, levelled charges of sexual harassment against the chief of its students' wing.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), however, said the university allowed Baisoya’s admission after due verification of document submitted by him.
ABVP candidates Ankiv Basoya, Shakti Singh & Jyoti Choudhary won the posts of President, Vice president & Joint secretary respectively. The post of secretary was won by NSUI candidate Akash Choudhary.
DUSU polls 2018: The polling in the morning colleges started at 8 am and will end at 1 pm, while in evening colleges, it will be held between 3 pm and 7.30 pm.
National Students Union of India members filed the complaints in 100 districts of 28 states, Ruchi Gupta, joint-secretary of All India Congress Committee and NSUI in-charge, said.
