India’s moon lander is all set to make a landing on the lunar soil on August 23, 2023 evening as the final deboosting operation got over in the wee hours of Sunday, said ISRO.
The Chandrayaan-3, India's third mission to moon, is scheduled for landing on the lunar surface on August 23.
The mission will be the first to land on the Moon's south pole, which is a region that has not been explored as extensively as other parts of the Moon.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said it successfully reduced the orbit of the Chandrayaan-3 mission's Lander Module (LM), further bringing it nearer to the moon.
Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander went through a key deboosting manoeuvre on Friday after successfully getting separated from the propulsion module.
August 23 is the D-Day and if Vikram makes a soft landing and Pragyan rover rolls out on the Moon’s surface, it will be a red-letter day in the history of India.

Speaking during the interaction over 'Chandrayaan-3: Bharat’s Pride Space Mission', ISRO chief S Somanath said that the 'Vikram' lander has been designed in such a way that it will be able to handle failures.
Chandrayaan-3, which is India's third Moon mission was successfully launched from Sriharikota on July 14.
Chandrayaan-3: The Indian spacecraft has covered about two-thirds of the distance to the Moon since its launch on July 14.
Earlier on August 1, the ISRO informed that the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft completed its orbits around the Earth and is now heading towards the Moon.
