JD(U) president Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar chief minister for a fourth straight term on Monday at a ceremony which was attended by top BJP leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda. Along with Nitish Kumar, BJP leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi also took oaths.
Nitish along with 13 ministers will take oath on Monday evening at the Raj Bhawan in Patna. This will be the Nitish's fourth consecutive term as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
The Speaker's post has been with the JDU ever since he took over a decade and a half ago. JDU leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, who was Speaker in the previous tenure, will join Nitish Kumar's Cabinet.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Renu Devi will take oath as the deputy CM of Bihar on Monday. Devi was on Sunday elected as the deputy leader of the BJP legislature party on Sunday.
Tarkishore Prasad won from Katihar Assembly seat. He replaces Sushil Kumar Modi as the deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
Bihar Govt Formation: Apart from Singh, the key NDA meeting will also be attended by former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and senior BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav.
Nitish Kumar said that the NDA will stake the claim to form the next government after Sunday's meeting. The NDA in Bihar comprises four parties -- Janata Dal (United), BJP, HAM, and VIP.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on November 12 thanked people of Bihar and claimed that state's mandate favoured Mahagathbandhan, but Election Commission's result was in NDA's favour.
The NDA led by Nitish Kumar won 125 seats, three more than the halfway mark of 122 in the 243-chair Assembly. The grand alliance won 110 seats.
Bihar Election Result: The Congress contested elections in an alliance with the RJD and Left parties. The party fielded 70 candidates but won just 19 seats. The RJD field candidates on 143 seats out of the 243, and won 75 seats. The Left parties won 16 of 29 seats they contested.
JP Nadda completely threw himself into the Bihar elections. He reached every nook and corner of the state during the election by travelling about 4,000 kilometres across Bihar to create a favourable environment for the party.
A total of 163 ( 68 per cent) out of the 241 winners in the Bihar Assembly polls have declared criminal cases against themselves in the poll affidavits, with RJD topping the list with around 73 per cent.
Bihar Elections Result: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Commonwealth Games shooter Shreyasi Singh won from the Jamui assembly seat. She defeated RJD's sitting MLA Vijay Prakash Yadav by a margin of 41,049 votes.
Bihar Election Result: The Rashtriya Janata Dal led by Lalu Prasad's son Tejashwi Yadav powered the party to the status of the single largest party with 75 seats. But its alliance partner, Congress appeared to be the weak link and restricted the alliance from gaining majority.
Nitish Kumar will take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the seventh time in 15 years. In the just held Assembly elections, the NDA won 125 seats, three more than halfway mark of 122 in the 243-chair Assembly.
Bihar Election Result: Nitish Kumar-led NDA secured a win in Bihar with a slender majority. The ruling alliance won 125 seats in the 243-member Legislative Assembly against 110 clinched by the RJD-led grand alliance.
According to India TV's analysis, had the LJP contested elections with the NDA, the alliance would have secured more than 160 seats. The LJP emerged as a vote cutter party at 37 seats, thus hurting the JDU candidates the most.
Bihar ElectionResult: The BJP won 74 seats and Nitish Kumar's JD(U) secured 43 seats. Other NDA partners Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) won four seats each.
Mohania assembly election result 2020: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Sangita Kumari has won the election by a margin of over 12,000 votes, defeating BJP's Niranjan Ram. Mohania falls under the Sasaram Lok Sabha constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was looking to retain the Mohania assembly constituency, placing its faith on sitting Niranjan Ram but did not meet the desired result.
