In a significant development, WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app owned by Meta, has officially halted its services for many users with older smartphones. As of October 24, WhatsApp will no longer work for those individuals using smartphones running on Android OS 5.0 or earlier versions, and for iPhone users, their devices must be running iOS 12 or later to continue using WhatsApp.

Reportedly, the move to discontinue support for these older operating systems is part of WhatsApp's ongoing efforts to prioritise privacy and safety. WhatsApp's decision has potentially impacted a significant number of users who rely on the app for their daily communications and tasks.
