Google is rolling out AI-powered editing features to older Pixel smartphones. These features were earlier exclusive to the Google Pixel 8 lineup.  This came after the tech giant promised to make AI features such as Magic Editor available to all users starting May 15. The company has now started rolling out these new features.

Users of older Pixel smartphones via Reddit reported the arrival of AI-powered editing features on their smartphones. One of the main features rolling out to these smartphones is Magic Editor. Smartphones such as the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 7, which earlier did not have these features are now receiving them.

For the unversed, the Magic Editor feature was first announced with the Google Pixel 8 and it uses generative AI to help users reimagine their photos and tweak specific parts, such as repositioning the subject or changing the background or sky.

According to a report from 9to5Google, the features arriving on older Pixel devices include Magic Editor, Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Portrait Blur, Sky Suggestions, cinematic photos, portrait light, and more.

Some of these features were previously available to Pixel users but were only accessible through the Google One subscription. Google has now made these features free for all Pixel owners via Google Photos. Additionally, Pixel tablet owners will also have access to the same features, although the availability may vary by device.

Google's initial announcement also mentioned plans to bring AI-powered editing features to other Android smartphones and iPhones, with a limitation. Users of these devices will initially receive 10 Magic Editor saves per month. If they wish to exceed this limit, they will either need to switch to a Pixel device or subscribe to the Premium Google One plan, which starts at $9.99 (roughly Rs. 830) per month.
