Mumbai : Even though Akshay Kumar believes that life begins at 40, he wants to cut down on his work. This is the star's birthday resolution as he turned 43 on Thursday.
Talking to reporters at the first look unveiling of his 'Action Replayy' opposite Aishwarya Rai releasing in November, Akshay said he wanted to enjoy what he had worked for all these years. "I want to work less and give more time to my family, especially my son," he said. Aishwarya, who is shooting for an ad campaign in Italy, was not present at the event.
Akshay recalled that he spent his birthdays during childhood by making trips to different places in Mumbai like Hanging Garden, Borivali National Park and Zoo. "Today, I will be taking my wife out for a date," he said.
When asked what period from the 1970s, he would like to witness which he had not done in real life, Akshay said he wanted to see his father-in-law's (Rajesh Khanna) super stardom. "Besides, I would also want to re-release my film 'Sanghursh' which is close to my heart but did not do well," he added.
Speaking about his experience of working with Aishwarya, the actor said, "Ash is a beautiful person and a thorough professional. We shared a great rapport since our 'Khakee' days." Apart from 'Action Replayy', Akshay will be seen in 'Patiala House' and 'Tees Maar Khan' in the coming months.
On his look with long straight hair, Akshay said the look was inspired from late actor Sunil Dutt in 'Zakhmi'. "I was comfortable in it but the only thing is that it took me an hour and half to wear it," he added.
Producer-director Vipul Shah said the film is an adaptation of his 1994 play by the same name. "Here, VJ Ranvijay is playing the role, I essayed in the play," Shah said while declining to go into details of what the film is about. He said the film is not a spoof on the 70s. "It's a stylised recreation of that period with elements of fantasy. It's a cute, romantic banter," Shah pointed out.
Aditya Roy Kapur plays Bunty, Akshay's son in the film. It also stars Randhir Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Rajpal Yadav.
'Action Replayy' will be Akshay's 5th film with Vipul Shah. The actor said he likes Vipul's script sense. "He has attempted different genres of movies from 'Aankhein' to 'Waqt', 'Namastey London' and 'Singh in Kinng'. We are comfortable working with each other," Akshay said if they both consider each other safe bet. PTI
