After being signed by Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson in 2003, Ronaldo was offered a no. 7 jersey. He was worried to take this honour as no. 7 was being worn by legends like Beckham, Johnny Berry, George Best, and Eric Cantona and this was an extra source of motivation. He asked for no. 28 earlier but Ferguson insisted him to wear no. 7.
