Johannesburg, Oct 22: South Africa has recalled Jacques Rudolph to its test squad after five years in the international wilderness.

Rudolph is included alongside two uncapped players—Pakistan-born legspinner Imran Tahir and allrounder Vernon Philander—in Saturday's 14-man squad for a two-test series against Australia next month.

Batsman AB de Villiers is picked but will have a fitness test before the series after missing the limited overs games with a broken hand.

Rudolph, who goes straight into the team as an opening batsman, played the last of his 35 tests in 2006 before joining English county side Yorkshire, being ignored by selectors.

But Rudolph has been in outstanding early season form for South African provincial side the Titans.
