Mumbai, May 7 : Senior sources in Mumbai Police today said they would not stop Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan from entering Wankhede stadium today to Bwatch the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.

Police sources said there was no criminal case filed against the Bollywood star, and the police would not stop him from entering the stadium, which is a private property of MCA(Maharashtra Cricket Association).

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has requested Mumbai Cricket Association to reconsider the ban on Shah Rukh Khan and allow him entry for today's match at the Wankhede Stadium.

MPCC spokesperson Sachin Sawant has written an email to the President, of MCA requesting him to reconsider the punishment given to Khan and allow him entry for today's match.

The e-mail said: "The MCA has banned Shri Shahrukh Khan, from viewing cricket matches in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

"Shri Shahrukh Khan has subsequently, publicly apologized for his misconduct.

"After the apology, we feel that it would be in the interest of Sports if your esteemed organization shows true sportsman spirit and allows entry to Shri Khan.

"It is not the question of Shri Shahrukh Khan as an actor, but of any citizen - a ban is not a democratic punishment especially when the person has apologized.

"I request you to kindly reconsider the punishment given to him and allow him entry for today's match".
