With the PWD and Fire Services department giving it the green signal, all stops have now been pulled out for the staging of Indian Premier League matches in the Eden Gardens.

"Problems regarding holding of IPL matches in the Eden Gardens are over with the state government's PWD and Fire Services departments agreeing to issue their NOCs to the organisers," West Bengal chief secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty told reporters after a meeting with the parties involved.

Those who attended the meeting apart from representatives of the IPL and CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya included officials of the PWD, Fire Services, Sports, CESC, city police commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty and the chief secretary himself.

Chakraborty, who had convened the meeting, said additional police force would be deployed during the matches.

"There is no problem any more. We hope the event will be held here smoothly", he said.

PWD Secretary Ajit Bardhan said the dispute over a temporary gallery at the Eden Gardens has been sorted out and hence the organisers of the event have been given the NOC.

Fire Services Secretary P K Kathiresan also expressed satisfaction with the arrangement. However, a team would visit the venue once again before issuing the final NOC, he said.

Sports Secretary Raghabendra Singh said steps would be taken to prevent black marketing of IPL tickets.

CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya said as the coordinator of the event, the cricket body would strictly follow directives of the state government.

Yesterday, deputy director of Fire Services, Dipak Sarkar, said after an inspection that 'Super Hospitality Box' was OK and had been renovated as per specifications suggested by his department.

The KKR will play their next three home matches at the Eden Gardens against Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils on April 1, 4 and 7 respectively.

A row over construction of the 'Super Hospitality Box' broke out after Fire Services minister Pratim Chatterjee lodged an FIR against the CAB on March 15 claiming the box was made without adhering to rules. PTI
