Ranchi ; Hundreds of fans on Monday  gathered near Mahendra Singh Dhoni's house to have a glimpse of their idol and his newly-wed wife only to go back disappointed as the Indian captain had not returned home yet though his family members have come back from Dehradun after his low-key marriage there.

Since morning, fans from in and around Ranchi and far off districts of Jharkhand had been gathering near Dhoni's Harmu Road residence after they heard the news that the newly-wed couple had left Dehradun after their marriage Sunday  night.

Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar told PTI that there was no information on Dhoni and his newly-wed wife Sakshi reaching the city. We don't have any information of Dhoni's arrival, Kumar said. One among the disappointed fans was Dhoni's neighbour Ritu, who had been waiting for him since morning.

"I have been waiting to see the newly-wed couple and I have been going in front of Dhoni's house again and again since morning," said Ritu. Meanwhile, Dhoni's family members today returned home but they refused to speak to the posse of waiting media.

"Please don't ask me anything...ask Dhoni...I will throw a party for you," said Dhoni's brother-in-law Goutam Gupta when asked where Dhoni and Sakshi would be heading for after yesterday's hush-hush wedding in Dehradun.

With a battery of cameramen and reporters chasing the family members including Dhoni's father Pan Singh, mother, sister and brother for bites, they refused to comment to a volley of questions.  Pan Singh even asked the cameramen to give way as securitymen escorted the family members to their vehicles at the airport here.

"I will convey your congratulations to him," Gupta said politely. Dhoni's another close friend said the Team India captain might stay here for a day or two before leaving for Sri Lanka, where India will play a three-Test series commencing from July 18 at Galle. PTI
