Khulna, Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan each struck centuries Tuesday to steer Bangladesh to 406-7 at tea on the second day of the second test against Zimbabwe.

Shakib brought up his third test century after the lunch session and was dismissed on 137, while Tamim scored 109, his fifth test century.

Taijul Islam was batting on 21, with Shahadat Hossain on 4 at the break.

Mahmudullah was the other notable contributor with 56.

Shakib and Tamim came out aggressively against Zimbabwe's bowlers to pace the hosts' attack.

Shakib hit 18 fours and two sixes before being bowled by Malcolm Waller.

Tamim was dismissed after trying to chase a wide delivery off Hamilton Maskadza. He earned his first century in four years with a four off leg-spin bowler Natsai M'Shangwe after facing 312 balls, easily the slowest century by a Bangladeshi batsman.

Usually an attacking batsman, Tamim ended his century drought after 33 innings. He struck 10 fours in his innings.

Waller (2-62) and Tinashe Panyangara (2-49) picked up two wickets apiece to help Zimbabwe hit back before the break.
