Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh expressed his disappointment on the omission of in-form batsman Mayank Agarwal from Asia Cup 2018 squad.

The Turbanator slammed selectors and raised many eyebrows by directly targetting them on his Twitter post. Harbhajan wrote, " Where is Mayank Agarwal??? After scoring so many runs I don’t see him in the squad ... different rules for different people I guess.”

Asia Cup will be a major tournament for India as it will witness the clash with arch-rivals Pakistan on UAE soil. Regular skipper Virat Kohli has been rested after heavy workload on him from past few months. Opener Rohit Sharma will be leading the side in his absence. Selectors raised many eyebrows when the 20-year old fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed was included in the squad, as it was a surprise for everyone because no one was expecting it.

On the other hand, Mayank has been performing exceedingly well in domestic cricket. His record speaks for himself. He smashed over 2000 runs last season in both the Ranji and Vijay Hazare Trophies.

On Mayank not being selected, Chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad said that his chance will come sooner than later.

“Mayank Agarwal has been fantastic and has been consistent in the last 10-12 months. He is just a step away and I am sure in due course of time he will get his recognition,” he said.

“And he did well In all three formats in whatever opportunities he has got in domestic cricket. We will definitely look at it when we rest some of the senior players,” Prasad added.
