Most runs in a single Test match, Shubman Gill stands second

With 269 and 161 runs in two innings against England at Edgbaston, Shubman Gill holds the record for most runs by an Indian in a single Test match. Overall, he stands second behind Graham Gooch in the illustrious record.

India captain Shubman Gill scripted history in the second Test against England at Edgbaston. The 25-year-old registered the highest score ever by an Indian in a single Test match. He made 269 runs in the first innings and added 161 runs more in the second innings of the match. Courtesy of that, India posted a target of 608 runs against the Three Lions.

Former Australia captain Mark Taylor sits third on the elite list. He made 334 runs against Pakistan in Peshawar in 1998 and followed by 92 runs in the second innings. The 60-year-old made 426 runs in the Test match. In the first innings, Australia posted 599 runs, and in reply, Pakistan made 580. In the third innings, Australia scored 289/5 as the match ended on level terms.
