However, the film has landed into controversy, with the descendant of Bajirao Peshwa I alleging that historical facts have been altered while portraying the late king and his wives Kashibai and Mastani in the film.
Ranveer, who plays Bajirao, was all praise for 52 year old Bhansali, known for grandeur of his films' sets and magnificence of on screen characters. He is one of the finest filmmakers of Indian cinema, he said.

While Priyanka Chopra couldn't make it back home for the trailer release, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansalli were present at the film's trailer launch event.
