A 55-year-old man, undergoing treatment for COVID-19, died in Kalaburagi district in Karnataka, taking the toll due to the disease in the state to seven, official sources said on Monday.

Eminent scientist and NITI Aayog member V K Saraswat said on Monday the number of COVID-19 cases is not going to go beyond what's being reported daily in India as he maintained that the country is in the process of flattening the curve.

"Till yesterday, we conducted 2,06,212 COVID-19 tests. Also, there is no need to worry, the pace at which we are conducting tests today, we have a stock with which we can conduct tests for next 6 weeks easily," Raman R Gangakhedkar, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Home Ministry has written to states asking them to follow lockdown guidelines of MHA in letter and spirit. Both inter-state and intra-state -movement of trucks and goods carriers are allowed, whether or not goods are essential. No separate permit or approval is required for cargo movement. Empty trucks or goods carriers are also allowed - since they may be going for pickup of goods or returning after delivery. Along with driver, one more person is allowed in the goods carrier. We have asked local authorities to proactively facilitate the truck driver and cleaner of trucks to travel from their homes to the truck location. Local authorities are required to cooperate and facilitate the transport of workers of those organizations which have received permission to undertake official or commercial activities.

States are working continuously to enforce lockdown measures. Retired personnel, NSS (National Service Scheme) & NCC cadets, & officials of other departments too are assisting police in enforcing lockdown measures: Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secy, Ministry of Home Affairs. 

The government on Monday extended on gratis basis the regular visa and e-visa of foreign nationals who are stranded in India due to COVID-19 till April 30, the Home Ministry said.

At least 20 more doctors were tested COVID-19 positive on Monday in Punjab, bringing the number of the medical staff infected by the deadly virus in Pakistan's most populous province to 50.

"No new COVID-19 positive case reported in the state in the last 100 hours. 7 positive patients have recovered till now," Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said: "There are 43 containment zones in Delhi today. If there are 3 or more positive cases in an area then we are declaring it a hotspot. 180 random samples were collected from Dilshad Garden yesterday. Rapid testing kits are awaited."
