New Delhi: Standing firm on its decision, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has today sent another communication to the University of Delhi directing it to immediately issue letters to Delhi Colleges for admitting students to the 3 year undergraduate programme.


Earlier, the commission has issued a same set of directives on 20th June, 2014 to the University of Delhi for admitting students for academic year 2014-15 onwards for the general undergraduate programs to the 3 year undergraduate programme which was prevalent in the University prior to introduction of FYUP.

The UGC had further strengthened its decision with a following letter on 22 June 2014 ordering the University of Delhi that admission for 2014-15 shall only be to the 3 year undergraduate programme.

It directed the university to inform all colleges of the UGC's directives for immediate and strict compliance.

The UGC also constituted a standing committee under the chairmanship of Vice-Chairman UGC to advise the University of Delhi for migration from FYUP to the 3 year undergraduate programme. UGC assures all students that no student will be put to any inconvenience and interest of students will be protected.

The University of Delhi vide its letter dated 23rd June, 2014 has forwarded the Orders of the UGC to all the college principals numbering 64 in total, which had offered FYUP last year.

In response to the communiqué issued by the UGC, 57 out of 64 colleges of DU have said that they complied with the directives of the UGC.
