Shobhan Sarkar associate seeks govt permission to dig for gold hunt

"The gold has to be found, and there is no need to take permission from the village panchayat. The panchayat can't stop this", said Om Baba, when he was told that the village panchayat was yet to give permission.

Frustrated with its month-long excavation, the ASI called off its venture after it found a few bones and terracotta bricks from the digging beneath the 19th century fort.

The government spent Rs 16 lakhs on the excavation which yielded nothing.

The ASI found some artefacts and reached sediments of calcium carbonates in the first trench. ASI officials had said there was no indication of any alloy as reported by the GSI team.
