New Delhi: Retired government employees will be entitled to all benefits if they are exonerated in corruption cases, if a proposed policy by the Centre comes into effect.

In case a government servant is completely exonerated the due date of his promotion is determined with reference to the position assigned with reference to the date of promotion of his next junior.

The government servant may be promoted, if necessary, by reverting the junior most officiating person in this case, as per existing policy.

He may be promoted notionally with reference to the date of promotion of his junior, it said.

"A retired government employee who is considered for notional promotion from the date of promotion of his next junior after opening of the sealed cover (in which Departmental Promotion Committee's findings are kept during the period he was facing the charges) would also be entitled to fixation of pension on the basis of such notional pay on his notional promotion," the new draft policy by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.

As per procedure, the DPC findings against a government employee accused of alleged corruption are kept in sealed cover which is opened only after the concerned staff is exonerated.

The DoPT has sought comments from concerned ministries and departments in this regard by December 22.
