Thane: Slain anti-superstition activist Dr.Narendra Dabholkar was today awarded “Lok Shahir Vitthal Umap Mrudgandh Puraskar” at a function held here.
The award is instituted by Vatsala Foundation. Dabholkar (65) was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pune in August this year. His attackers are yet to be arrested.
While veteran actor Ramesh Deo was conferred upon the lifetime achievement award, senior Marathi actress Madhu Kambikar, director Sachin Pilgaonkar, composer duo Ajay-Atul were also bestowed the honour.
The award included a citation.
Among other recipients of the award are authors Gangaram Ghavankar and Pramanand Gajbhye, Raju Shaikh for folk arts, Padmaja Fenani-Joglekar for singing and Shital Talpade.
