Amethi: Congress party's star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Tuesday hit out at BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and questioned his "childish behaviour" in calling Rahul Gandhi by different names.

“Sometimes he compares Rahul Gandhi to an actor, sometimes calls him a 'Namuna' and sometimes 'Shehzada' (prince). You (Modi) aspire to become a prime minister, why are you getting into such childish behaviour?” said Priyanka, who is campaigning here for her brother and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

She also asked Modi to have some "respect for the prime ministerial post" and "instead should tell people how he was going to ensure empowerment for women".

Priyanka Gandhi said her brother Rahul, a sitting MP who is seeking re-election to the parliamentary constituency for the third time, has the same vision of development as their father Rajiv Gandhi had.

"My father used to be the MP from here. He developed Amethi and always thought about long-term, holistic growth. Rahul, who is now your MP and my brother, also has the same vision and thinks of long-term development," Priyanka said at the election meeting here.

Priyanka accused Smriti Irani, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Amethi constituency, of being cut off from ground reality.

"There are other contenders who come here and say there is no electricity or good roads here, despite being Rahul's constituency. They take reporters to a dark room and talk, and say there has been no development. They do not want to understand how development has happened here," she said.

Accusing the BJP of copying the Congress party's poll manifesto, Priyanka said the BJP was a party which breaks people's unity and whose politics is destructive.

Aam Aadmi Party's Kumar Vishwas is also in the fray in this Nehru-Gandhi bastion, which goes to the polls May 7.
