New Delhi:  Expressing concerns over the attacks in Tunisia and Kuwait, President Pranab Mukherjee today said that India strongly condemns all acts of terror and senseless violence.

Mukherjee said India stands by the people of both the nations in their difficult hour and also reaffirms its commitment to the global efforts against terrorism.

"India strongly condemns all acts of terror and senseless violence. We believe that the progress of humanity lies in unity, peace, brotherhood and non-violence," he was quoted as saying in a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The President said it was shocking to know about the horrific terrorist attack at a beach in Tunisia and at a mosque Kuwait, both on Friday, which left many innocent people dead.

A man pulled a gun hidden inside a beach umbrella and opened fire at a packed holiday resort, massacring 39 people,mostly tourists in Tunisia's worst attack in recent history.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the Tunisians and tourists of different nationalities who lost their lives. We offer our sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured," he said.

An Islamic State (ISIS) suicide bomber struck a Shiite mosque in the Kuwaiti capital during Friday prayers, killing 27 people and injuring 227.

In separate messages to Beji Caid Essebsi, President Republic of Tunisia and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, Mukherjee prayed for the peace and prosperity of the people of both the nations.

"India strongly condemns all acts of terror and mindless violence. We believe that the progress of humanity lies in unity, peace, brotherhood and non-violence," he said.
