New Delhi: The nation today remembers Damini, the victim of the horrifying Delhi gangrape case of December 16, 2012. She was a 23 year old paramedical student who succumbed to her injuries after being brutally gangraped. Two years from then, little has changed in the national capital that still carries the tag of ‘rape capital'.

Today a group of NGOs and professionals have organised a bus ride to mark the second anniversary of the gangrape and murder.

"The objective is to put focus on the lack of safety for women and to make citizens participate in a greater way and take charge of their own safety," according to a statement of the group -- 'Justice Seekers'.

The civil society movement also wishes to demonstrate their complete solidarity with the woman's parents and the families of other sexual assault victims.

"The bus ride has a symbolic significance as it was on a bus that the horrific incident occurred two years ago. The bus ride will start from Dwarka at 3.00 pm and and head towards Central Delhi," said Ranjana Kumari, a social activist, who will lead the campaign.
