Aizawl: At least 600 infants died while 12 maternal deaths were recorded in Mizoram during 2012-2013, state Health and Family Welfare department officials today said.
The officials said that the Centre set a target to reduce Infant Mortality Rate to 25 in every 1000 births by 2017 while the Infant Mortality Rate in Mizoram was still 30 in every 1,000 births.
They also said that coordinated efforts by different departments like the Health Services, Social Welfare, Public Health Engineering, Education and Rural Development was a must to achieve the target.
Maternal Mortality Rate was to be reduced to 100 in every 1,000 pregnant woman during the 12th Plan Period, the officials added.
