Know tips on how to top Management Aptitude Test (MAT) 2014

New Delhi: All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi, invites applications for Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for the session February 2014. MAT is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India. Exam Pattern MAT is an objective type test contains five sections of each 40 questions with time duration of 150 minutes. There is a deduction of one fourth mark in case of negative marking for each wrong answer. Five Sections are • Language Comprehension • Mathematical skills • Data Interpretation • Intelligence & Critical Reasoning • Indian & Global Environment Mode of Test & Test Centers Candidate can choose any one of the two options to take the test: Paper Based Test Or Computer Based Test • Test Centre City list is provided in the bulletin. Test Venues for Paper-Based Test and Computer Based Test are different. • The Paper-Based Test will take place only on one day i.e., 01 December 2013 at one time slot i.e., 10.00am-12.30pm, whereas the Computer Based Test will take place from 07 September 2013 onwards in different time slots. • If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is limited and can be accommodated in a single day; the test will be completed on 07 December 2013 itself. • If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is few in a particular centre, these candidates have to appear for the Paper-Based Test on 01 September 2013 only. • One candidate can appear only for one date for the Decemer 2013 MAT. Eligibility Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Final year students of graduate courses can also apply. How to apply Candidates can obtain MAT Bulletin / CD against cash payment of Rs 1200/- from listed branches of Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, listed Study Centres of AIMA OR from AIMA, New Delhi. Candidates can also obtain application form through crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1200/- drawn in favour of ‘All India Management Association' should be payable at Delhi from any Bank. Work through at least two comprehensive MAT prep books.• Take full-length practice tests. Take as many full-length practice tests as you reasonably have time for.• Take a "dress rehearsal" computerized MAT. If you plan to take the computer-based version of the MAT, you should become comfortable and familiar with the testing interface before you sit for the actual exam. One way to accomplish this is through the official MAT website.• Review your academic knowledge. To a great extent, the MAT is a test of vocabulary and subject-matter knowledge. Even a few weeks can be enough time to fill in significant gaps in your knowledge of the four academic areas covered on the MAT.• Bolster your general vocabulary. Pace your study and practice testing over a period of several weeks, rather than put yourself through a cram session a few days before the test.
