New Delhi: The Aghoris are a Shaivite Hindu sect, mostly composed of ascetic sadhus. They are, for instance, known to engage in post-mortem ritual. They also often dwell in cremation grounds, have been witnessed smearing cremation ashes on their bodies, and have been known to use bones from human corpses for crafting skull bowls (which Shiva and other Hindu deities are often iconically depicted holding or using) and jewellery. Aghoris have have their own style of worshipping which is very secretive. They are very simple and intuitive. They have fair expressions for everything and don't have any feeling of discrimination in their minds. Strangely they like eating rotten flesh of any being just like they enjoy any other cooked meal. When they like someone, get happy with someone, they give them everything. There are many shocking and suprising things about Aghoris. Here are some salient pointers: 1. Ahhoris mostly make their houses in graveyard only as the Shamshan (cremation ground) . Sadhna has a huge importance in Aghor panth(cult). It is quite fruitful for them to do Sadhna in cremation ground.Their Sadhna does not get disturbed since a normal man never visits a cremation ground on a daily basis. They only keep dogs as their pets. 2. Their disciples stay with them and also serve them. Aghoris eat everything they like except cow's flesh. From human faeces or animal flesh, it can be the meat of the dead, they eat everything. To the utter amazement they drink their own urine as well when they are thirsty.3. Aghoris live in their own world and don't have any sense of good or bad. They keep themselves separate from a normal life. They sleep during daytime and do Sadhna during night. They don't keep any contacts with normal people and do not talk much. Aghoris always keep their word. If they say something, they always do it. They chant their Siddha mantra for the maximum time in a day. 4. Aghoris are quite stubborn, therefore if they get stuck to one thing, they never leave it until it's done. If they are angry they can go to any extent. Most of them have red eyes when they get angry, however, their heart is always at peace. They wear human skulls around their neck and wear black clothes. 5. There are mainly three types of Sadhnas performed by Aghoris- Shiva Sadhna, Shav Sadhna and Shmashan Sadhna. Shiv Sadhna: In this type of Sadhna, Aghoris have to stand on a dead body to perform the Sadhna.Shav Sadhna: Other Sadhnas are also done in a similar way. The Prasad is offered to the dead body in this Sadhna. The Prasad can be flesh or alcohol.Shmashan Sadhna:The other members of Aghori family can also be included in this type of Sadhna. Shavpeth is worshiped instead of a dead body in Shamshan Sadhna. Ganga jal is offered in this Puja. Mava is offered as Prasad
