Panaji: Goa police today arrested Nitesh Rane, son of senior Maharashtra minister Narayan Rane and eight others on charge of thrashing toll staff at Dhargal checkpost.
The incident took place at around 4 pm, when Nitesh Rane alongwith his supporters arrived at the toll gate.
When the toll staff asked for money, Rane and his supporters abused and began to thrash the toll employees.
Police detained Nitesh Rane and his 10 supporters, and later arrested eight of them apart from Rane.
One of the toll employees said, when Nitesh Rane was asked to pay at the toll barrier, he said, he was the son of minister Narayan Rane and it was the minister's car.
When the toll employee insisted that he would have to pay the toll, Nitesh Rane's bodyguards came out and started bashing the toll employees.
They also vandalised the toll room.
The toll staff called in the police, after which a case was registered.
