New Delhi/Mumbai/Kolkata/Ujjain, Mar 27: Colours of all hues, the smell of 'gulal' and joyous spirit pervaded the streets today as Delhiites came out to celebrate Holi in the capital.
Revellers exchanged greetings with each other to celebrate the festival of colours. People visited friends and relatives, gifted 'gujia' (a traditional sweet) besides smearing 'gulal' on each other's faces.
Children enjoyed the most as they sprayed coloured water using water guns and hurled water-filled balloons on people from their rooftops.
In the national capital, police personnel were deployed across the city. Police had issued warning against hooliganism in the guise of revelries.
In the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, priests performed Bhasmaarti, by offering flowers and holy ashes on the Shiva lingam.
Reports of Holi celebrations have come in from Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal, Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and other cities.
Hyderabad (IANS): Holi, the festival of colours, was Wednesday celebrated across Andhra Pradesh with traditional fanfare and gaiety.

Police in Hyderabad imposed prohibitory orders to prevent any untoward incident.
Police commissioner Anurag Sharma issued orders prohibiting throwing colour or coloured water on unknown persons, places and vehicles. Police also banned movement of people in groups on bikes and cars.
