Mominul maiden ton lead Bangladesh to 272 vs New Zealand

Chittagaong, Bangladesh: Mominul Haque's unbeaten maiden century ( 172 no) helped  Bangladesh cruised to 272-4 against New Zealand on the third day of the first test on Friday.






Bangladesh are still trailing New Zealand's first innings by 197 runs. They made slow but steady progress in the morning session after resuming on the overnight score of 103-2 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Mominul's century in his fourth test is the fourth highest by a Bangladeshi. His previous best score was 64.

He reached 100 from 98 balls, the second fastest from a Bangladeshi in tests.

The highest score by a Bangladeshi is 200, by Mushfiqur Rahim, who was with Mominul at the crease, on 49 not out.

Marshall Ayub was the only wicket to fall in the first session, caught by BJ Watling off Corey Anderson for 25, ending a partnership of 126 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan fell cheaply on 19 in the first over after lunch.
