Jammu: A BSF jawan was critically injured when Pakistani troops fired across the Line of Control in Mendhar sector early this morning.
The jawan got a bullet in his eye and he was rushed to hospital.
Internittent firing continued in Mendhar till this morning.
The sudden spurt in ceasefire violations from across the border with Pakistan has forced Indian villagers to think about relocating.
Adding to the series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan over the past couple of months, another incident took place in Poonch district.
According to residents of the district, heavy firing from across the border started from 11 pm on Sunday night and continued till early hours of Monday morning.
“Non-stop bullets were being fired from Pakistan and our army also retaliated, but only in the final hour. Now it has become very difficult for us to live in such conditions,” said Hemraj Sharma, a resident on Monday.
