He criticised Kumar for repeatedly and publicly displaying his dislike for Narendra Modi and asked him to shed his ego and pick up phone to congratulate the BJP prime ministerial candidate over his electoral victory as protocol demanded.
“Should not you abide by protocol and pick up phone to congratulate your Gujarat counterpart over his electoral victory?” the former deputy chief minister asked.
“We have registered a landslide victory in the general elections due to Modi's leadership and charisma,” he said.
Modi also said that his party would not try to dislodge the state government, but at the same time claimed that a number of ruling party MLAs were in touch with the BJP and even worked for their victory.
