New Delhi, Nov 9: For over three years, former Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi has been at the Capital's Apollo hospital after suffering a stroke and the hospital now wants him to go home since he has shown no signs of recovery.

But his family is not willing to shift the 66-year-old politician home, with his wife Deepa Dasmunshi, a Congress MP, saying today that although there is no improvement in his neurological condition, there is no deterioration either.

Dr Prathap C Reddy, Chairman of Apollo group of Hospitals, said that despite treatment for his paralytic state, his condition remained unchanged and our doctors are of the view that he can be taken care of at home.

"Johns Hopkins doctors who saw Dasmunshi said that he was in coma. All treatment modalities have been tried upon him but there have been no results," Dr Reddy said, adding, that the hospital was short of beds and the treatment can be replicated at his home.

Deepa said the hospital had told them to take Dasmunshi home but "we are not taking him because of the fear of infection as he has two openings in his body."

Recently, Lok Sabha sceretariat has sought opinion of the Health Minsitry on whether Deepa Dasmunshi is entitled for full medical reimbursement of the claim.

So far, the Lok Sabha Secretariat paid for Dasmunshi's treatment, which reportedly costs about Rs 6 lakh per month, and the total dues add up to Rs 50 lakh as bills have not been paid from April this year.
