Lucknow: A Luckow based social activist today sent a cheque of Rs.100 to cops of Moradabad district for solving the mystery behind the missing buffalo of UP's powerful minister Mr. Azam Khan.

After a year long investigation, the cops finally managed to arrest the ‘mastermind' of the case. The cops' proactive approach is likely to reinstate the faith of citizens in the Samajwadi Party government, which has drawn enough flak for deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

The proud cops, after the arrest, told media about the “big achievement” earlier in the day

Making a sly remark on Police for heaping self praises, activist Dr. Nutan Thakur said “The kind of happiness and satisfaction the local police got after having arrested this thief and the pride and willingness with which it presented these facts before the Media generates new hopes in her heart.”

She further expressed hope that the police will show the same swiftness and empathy in other cases of theft as well.

Hence she has sent Rs. 100 cheque as token of appreciation and hope that the police shall be showing the same alacrity for catching culprits in common person's thefts as well.

The buffalo thief who ran away with UP Minister Azam Khan's bovines was finally arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday.

Evidently, for over a year, the police were spending their resources on investigating into the case and tracking the thieves.

Seven buffaloes, worth lakhs of rupees, were stolen from a barn owned by the UP Minister for Minorities and Urban Development in Rampur on 31 January, 2014 following which dog squads, crime branch sleuths and police personnel were put on the job to find them.

The bovines were rescued after an intensive overnight search and five of the accused were nabbed earlier.

Acting on a tip off, another accused identified as Chunan, a history sheeter, was arrested on Sunday in Moradabad district along with two others who were planning to commit a dacoity, Moradabad Superintendent of Police (Rural) Praval Pratap Singh said.

However, out of the five who were planning the dacoity, two managed to escape, he said.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to stealing the buffaloes from the barn.
