PM Modi, Vice President Naidu wish people on Bihar Diwas

The state celebrates Bihar Diwas on March 22, every year, to commemorate the date on which the province came into being.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wished the people of Bihar on the foundation day of the state. 

"Greetings to my sisters and brothers of Bihar on Bihar Diwas. Right from historical times, Bihar’s contribution towards the nation’s progress is exemplary and invaluable," PM Modi wrote on Twitter. The state celebrates Bihar Diwas on March 22, every year, to commemorate the date on which the province came into being. 

This time, the theme is based on the Champaran Satyagrah centenary year.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, who is Bihar to inaugurate the three-day festivities on the occasion tweeted, "My best wishes and compliments to the people of Bihar on their State formation day.  I am happy to be present at the celebrations in Patna today."

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had greeted the greeted the people of the state on the eve of "Bihar Diwas" on Wednesday. 

"Hope Bihar will keep marching on the path to prosperity and its people will uphold unity, fraternity and social and communal harmony", an official release quoted the chief minister as saying.
