Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Tuesday warned people against use of plastic or PVC smart card as they said that such cards are unusable, and prone to data theft. "Plastic/PVC Aadhaar Smart Card is not usable. Aadhaar letter/its cutaway portion/downloaded versions on ordinary paper/mAadhaar are valid," UIDAI said in a statement.
The Aadhaar body advised people to only use official letter, its cutaway portion or downloaded versions of the ID. Mobile application mAadhaar can also be used to access Aadhaar related facilities, the authority said.
The government body clarified that preference to more attractive plastic or PVC smart cards can make people fall to ploys of unscrupulous elements.
