The acumen of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in matters of national security, combat and intel operations is no secret. However, his visit to the US accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought to prominence some other traits of his personality. For, it were his sharp reflexes that came to the rescue of the Prime Minister during his visit to the United States. No, the Prime Minister wasn't faced with any life-threatening situation, but Doval did jump in to help.

On Tuesday, an alert Doval saved Prime Minister Modi from a possible embarrassment when wind swept away some pages of his prepared remarks to the media at the White House. While the PM was attentively listening to the remarks of US President Donald Trump at the Rose Garden of the presidential mansion after their first meeting, a sudden gust of wind swept away some pages of Modi's prepared statement to the media.

Doval, who was seated on the front row along with some other senior Indian officials, sprang up and quickly retrieved the papers and handed it back to the prime minister. The wind again played naughty and the papers were blown away once again to be retrieved by Doval.

Prime Minister Modi's summit with President Trump was the first face-to-face meeting between the leaders of the two major countries. At their first meeting, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump reiterated their commitment to cooperate in the final fight against terrorism.

“Fighting against terrorism and destroying the hideouts of the terrorists will be an important part of our mutual cooperation,” PM Modi said while jointly addressing the media with Trump following delegation-level talks.

“We will enhance the intelligence exchange to boost coordination to address our common concerns over terrorism and will deepen our policy coordination accordingly,” he added.

Modi added that both the nations had agreed to increase their cooperation to tackle global challenges like increasing radicalisation, extremism and terrorism.
