Mathura Lok Sabha result: Hema Malini leads

Counting of votes for the Mathura Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end, and as expected, BJP leader Hema Malini is set to register a win.

Counting of votes for the Mathura Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end, and as expected, BJP leader Hema Malini is set to register a win.

The Mathura Lok Sabha constituency is currently held by Hema Malini of BJP. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Hema Malini beat Jayant Chaudhary of RLD by receiving 53.40 per cent of the votes cast in this constituency.

At the time of the previous Lok Sabha election in 2014, Mathura had 1,682,260 registered electors -- 931,615 of them male and 750,645 female. The constituency had seen a 64.01 per cent voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In Mathura, the male voter turnout was 66.45 per cent and 60.98 per cent female voters turned out for voting.

The Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the second phase of the election -- on April 18 and recorded a voter turnout of 60.48 per cent.

The seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls 2019 covered a total of 543 constituencies. Voting in the first phase was conducted on April 11. 

Simultaneous elections were held to the assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha -- the results for which will also be out today.
