In Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, an encounter broke out on Wednesday morning between militants and security forces, officials said. Two terrorists were neutralised and combing operation was underway.
In Meemendar area of Shopian, security forces launched a cordon and search operation following information about the presence of militants, the officials said.
After the militants opened fire, the search operation turned into an encounter. There were no reports of any casualties of Army personnel so far in the operation.
The exchange of fire comes a day after Indian Air Force (IAF) bombed and destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM) biggest training camp in Balakot in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The air strike killed a very large number of terrorists, trainers and senior commanders.
The strike was the first by the IAF inside Pakistan after the 1971 war.
