New Delhi:

Pitru Paksha is known to be important in Hinduism. It is a 15-day period wherein people remember their ancestors and perform the Shraadh rituals. It is believed that our ancestors visit the earth during this time and hence, performing Tarpan or Shraadh can help you get their blessings.

It is said that when you perform the Shraadh rituals during Pitru Paksha, you get rid of any Pitru Dosh. This year, the beginning and end of Pitru Paksha will take place on an eclipse. There is a lunar eclipse at the beginning of Pitru Paksha and a solar eclipse at the end of Pitru Paksha.

When will Pitru Paksha begin?

Pitru Paksha will begin with Purnima Shradh on September 7, with Pratipada Shraadh being held on September 8. Pitru Paksha will end with Sarvapitri Amavasya on September 21, 2025. Mahalaya Amavasya is the most important day in Pitru Paksha.
