New Delhi: Amal Clooney, wife of actor George Clooney is named fourth most powerful Londoner and the most powerful woman in London.
Amal Clooney was Amal Alamuddin before marrying George Clooney. The 36 year old barrister is placed fourth on Evening Standards's 100 most powerful Londoners list. She beat names like Victoria Beckham (No. 9) and Malala Yousufzai (No. 12) in the list.
What is surprising is that former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and wife of Football star David Beckham spots lower than Amal Clooney. Kate Middleton who was in the Time's most influential people of the world in 2013 could not even find a place in the list. Kate Bush, 56 year old singer and songwriter is placed at number 16 in the list.
Her achievement cannot be completely credited to her recently acquired last name only, Mrs. Clooney is a high profile barrister involved in cases like Abdallah Al Senussi and wikileaks founder Julian Assange. She is also an advisor to the king of Bahrain in Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry.
Before being married to George Clooney she was selected into three member commission of UN to look into accusations of human rights violations against Israel in Gaza.
Another name from the entertainment industry in top 20 is Sherlock Holmes star Benedict Cumerbatch who is placed at no.20 in the list.
