Sonam Kapoor has recently got hitched to her long-time beau Anand Ahuja in a lavish Indian wedding. Soon after her nuptials, she took to social media to change her last name to ‘Ahuja’ which was dubbed as cute by many netizens. However, some pseudofeminist found it regressive and slammed the actress for changing her identity for her husband while the latter enjoys his bachelor name. People have been lambasting the actress for adding to the patriarchal norms of the society of women adding husband’s surname after wedding.

Sonam Kapoor paid no heed to these comments on social media but in turn waited for the right time to comment on this ongoing hot topic on internet. During a session at Cannes Film Festival, she had put these questions to rest. She said, “I have been engaged for a long time. It took me a long time to decide. It’s a choice, at the end of the day. And if people don’t understand the concept of feminism, they need to go online and look at the description. And how do you know Anand has not changed his name?”
Well, she has a point. How do these social media users know if Anand Ahuja has changed his surname or not?
On the work front, Sonam Kapoor will be featuring in Veere Di Wedding with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. It is slated to release on June 1, 2018 along with her brother Harshvardhan Kapoor’s film Bhavesh Joshi Superhero.
