Ranbir Kapoor is n the best phase of his life right now. The actor’s film Sanju is unstoppable at the box office and he has more amazing projects in his kitty like Brahmastra. Obviously, father Rishi Kapoor is proud of him. But do you know that Rishi Kapoor fell flat on Rajkumar Hirani’s mother’s feet and asked for a role for Ranbir?
Talking to Mid-Day about his films, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that he is afraid of confronting his father about his public outbursts, and passes messages on to him through his mother, Neetu Kapoor. Ranbir said that he felt bad for director Anurag Basu for having faced his father’s wrath, and for composer Pritam, who was also not spared during the Jagga Jasoos fiasco.
Ranbir has been very vocal about his relationship with his father and how he is closer to his mother but not his father. However, when Rishi Kapoor saw Ranbir in Sanju, his reaction was priceless. He cried and said that he is proud of him.
While Rishi Kapoor is known for putting his heart out always, Ranbir disclosed that he has his father to thank for being hired by Rajkumar Hirani in Sanju. Years ago, Ranbir said, his father met Hirani’s mother shortly after the release of Hirani’s second film, Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Rishi fell to her feet and said, “Your son is a genius, and I hope he works with my son at some point.”
After which Hirani cast Ranbir for a cameo in Aamir Khan starrer PK and it was rumoured that Ranbir will be the lead if a sequel to PK is made. However, when Sanjay Dutt’s biopic was brought to the table, Rajkumar Hirani was very clear that he wanted Ranbir to play him.
