It’s been more than a month since Priyanka Chopra walked out of Bharat but the gossips around the matter don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The big news that the Quantico star had already signed Salman Khan’s Bharat but at the last moment, she walked out of the film citing personal reasons. Reports have been doing rounds that the actor is not happy with Priyanka walking out of the film on such a short notice.
A new interview has further substantiated these reports. Salman Khan talked at lengths how Priyanka Chopra was so keen to work with him again. She even convinced his sister Arpita Khan to get her brother cast her in his next movie. However, when the time came, despite Salman Khan trying to convince her to make time for both Bharat and wedding, PeeCee left the film.
Speaking to a leading entertainment portal, Salman Khan accepted that there were delays in the shootings and it might have coincided with her marriage plans. But still he maintained that Priyanka would have managed her wedding with the film, if she wanted.
He said, “If you are getting engaged, what’s the need (of exiting the project)?’ Then she said, ‘Shaadi karni hai’ to which I said ‘Toh shaadi kar lo’. Priyanka’s work was for 75-80 days. Shaadi ke liye chaar din ka preparation, aur chaar din ki shaadi, aath din ke andar ho gayi aur phir uske baad honeymoon. (It takes four days of preparation, four days for the wedding, it’s done in eight days and then the honeymoon.) So, we said we will work it out. But she was very clear that she didn’t want to be a part of the film.”
However, Salman even said that it must’ve been so difficult for Priyanka Chopra to quit Bharat as she was very keep to work with him.
He added, “It must have been very difficult for her to make this decision because she was very keen to work on this project. She has called up Arpita a thousand times, saying, ‘I want to work with Salman’. She has even called up Ali (Abbas Zafar, director) and told him, ‘See if you can get me something in this film’.”
The Race 3 actor also made some guesses on why she left the film.
“Not doing this had to be because of the wedding or because she doesn’t want to work with me anymore. It could also be because she doesn’t want to work in humari industry (Bollywood) or wants to work only in Hollywood. Whatever she wants to do, I wish her all the best in life. We are glad that she is engaged and happy,” Salman Khan said.
Bharat is based on a Korean film An Ode to My Father. It is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani and Tabu in important roles. It will be Salman’s Eid offering for 2019.
